If you just use the site
- Identifying a track: your phone turns a few seconds of audio into a fingerprint, and only that fingerprint is sent to Shazam. No audio is uploaded.
- Usage counts: we log each lookup and search with its time, result, rough location (country and Cloudflare data centre) and the track found. We don't store IP addresses.
- Your browser remembers your recent searches, how many free digs you've used, and your light/dark choice. This stays on your device; clear your browser data to remove it.
- Light or dark: the site is light while the sun is up where you are and dark after sunset. To tell, we use the rough location Cloudflare works out from your connection (roughly your town or city) to check whether the sun is up there. Only "day" or "night" goes into the page; the location isn't stored.
If you make an account
- You can sign in with Google, Discord or a link sent to your email. We receive your name (if the service shares it) and email address. We never see any password.
- We keep your favourite shows and transitions and your search history so you can come back to them.
- Where you're based (optional): your city and, if you're in London, which part. If you tell us, we use it to tell you about nights and events near you. You can change or remove it on your account page.
- We use these only to run your account. We don't sell or share them.
The Mulch Bulletin
Only if you tick the box, we'll email you the Mulch Bulletin: occasional emails from Mulch about new music, mixes, club nights and events, including events we run ourselves, and suggestions based on what you select (your searches and favourites on Mulch) and, if you've told us, where you're based. We keep a record of when you agreed and the wording you saw. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out any time on your account page. Emails are always from Mulch; we never give your address to anyone else.
Other services involved
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores account data.
- Google and Discord handle sign-in if you choose them; Google also serves the site's fonts.
- Resend sends sign-in link emails.
- Shazam receives the audio fingerprint to identify tracks.
- TrackID.net, NTS and MixesDB are searched directly from your browser for shows that played a track.
- SoundCloud, Mixcloud and YouTube provide the embedded players and may set their own cookies when you play something.
Your choices and rights
You can delete your account at any time from Your mulch → Account → Delete my account. That removes your account, favourites and search history straight away. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, by emailing hello@mulch.club. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
